How to Setup a Connect Device

Setting up the ScreenScape Connect is quick and painless. With the proper equipment and a pre-mounted TV, you can be ready to go from start-to-finish in under 10 minutes.

It is important to note that you can only use the Smartphone Method setup method (instructions below) if you are connecting the device to an Open network, WEP or WPA/WPA2 network that is broadcasted (not hidden).  If you need to configure the device to connect to a non-broadcasted SSID (hidden WiFi network) or a WPA2 Enterprise network then you will have to connect a keyboard device to complete the advanced WiFi setup

Detailed Setup Instructions

Before you begin, take a look at our Setup Checklist. Performing these checklist items in advance will streamline the physical setup of your device.

STEP 1: Plug the device into an HDMI port on your screen using the included HDMI extender cable or by plugging the device directly into an HDMI port.

STEP 2: Connect the provided AC power adapter to the device and then plug the adapter into a power outlet. Non-certified power adapters will not sufficiently power the device and should not be used. You can now turn on your TV and change the source/input to the HDMI port the device is plugged into.

STEP 3: Use a SmartPhone or a USB keyboard to connect your device to WiFi:

– Smartphone Method: From your phone’s WiFi settings, connect to the broadcasted WiFi signal being sent from your device. Once connected, a WiFi connection set up portal should appear. Select your WiFi network, enter your password and then press Connect. If you need to configure the device to connect to a non-broadcasted SSID (hidden WiFi network) or a WPA2 Enterprise network then you must connect a USB keyboard to the device to complete the WiFi setup. For more information on this topic please refer to the advanced WiFi setup guide.

Important: Once connected, If the setup portal does not open up on your phone automatically, then you may have to open a web browser on your device to access the setup portal. Alternatively, you can open a web browser on your device and navigate to 192.168.42.1

– Keyboard Method: If you don’t have a Smartphone available, you can set up the device by plugging in a USB keyboard to one of the USB ports located on the device and then follow the on-screen instructions. This method is required if you need to configure the device to connect to a non-broadcasted SSID (hidden WiFi network) or a WPA2 Enterprise network. For more information on this topic please refer to the advanced WiFi setup guide.
